Washington State HEAL Act Funding

The Healthy Environment for All Act (2021) created new funding pathways for environmental justice and community capacity building

What is the HEAL Act?

Washington's first statewide law creating a coordinated approach to environmental justice. It requires seven state agencies to:

  • ✓ Conduct environmental justice assessments
  • ✓ Develop community engagement frameworks
  • ✓ Integrate EJ into strategic plans
  • ✓ Consult with Tribal governments
  • ✓ Report on EJ metrics
  • ✓ Prioritize overburdened communities
